Choosing an MBA isn’t just about the school or course itself – there’s a wide range of factors to consider during the application process, and being able to narrow them down is key to making the right choice.
We spoke to faculty and students at SMU Cox School of Business to find out more.
Advice of J.R. McGrath
J.R. McGrath, Director of full-time MBA admissions, says candidates should look at the unique advantages that each program offers. This includes campus location, partnerships with local businesses and experimental learning models.
He also advices applicants to speak with admission officers, students and professors.
He says, “All the schools that you really should be a good fit for are the ones that are gonna want to bring you in and introduce you to their entire community.”
What the students think
According to Kelsey Martin, full-time MBA student at Cox, location and learning opportunities are the two most important factors to consider when choosing a school, from a dynamic business community where companies recruit graduates to local institutions offering students work and research experience.
Linda was a Content Writer at TopMBA, creating content about students, courses, universities and businesses. She recently graduated in Journalism & Creative Writing with Politics and International Relations, and now enjoys writing for a student audience.
